Optocoupler, opto-isolator module, compatible with Arduino and other development boards, which transfers an electrical signal between two isolated circuits by using light. It prevents high voltages from affecting the system that receives the signal. It consists of an LED and a phototransistor in the same capsule. The electrical signal is converted into light, then it is received by the phototransistor which, in turn, generates electrical energy.

This allows a microcontroller, which uses a logic voltage of 5V to control, for example, motors or servomotors that use a higher voltage and which can generate electromagnetic interference, to be isolated electromagnetically from consumers.

The signal received on INPUT is output on OUTPUT but at a higher voltage.

Specifications:

INPUT voltage: 3V / 5V

Maximum absorption current: 500mAh

Maximum HVCC voltage (power output): 24VDC

Integrated used: Toshiba TLP281

Input channels: 4

Output channels: 4

Output current: equal to HVCC/5.1K

Weight: 5g

Dimensions mm: 25 x 24mm

Use:

Pins IN1 , IN2, IN3, IN4 and GND to Arduino GND can be connected to the IO ports of the Arduino. Each pin will control the related outputs ( IN1 control OUT1 , samd)

The plus of the device controlled on the OUTPUT pins is connected to the HVCC pin. HGND will connect to the negative of the controlled device.

When IN1 is HIGH, the corresponding output OUT1 is equal to the voltage applied to HVCC . When IN1 is LOW, OUT1 voltage is equal to HGND .
